Aumua ready to step up in All Blacks number two jersey

Aumua said he was excited to be involved again, especially after getting a good taste when called into action early and finishing with 75 minutes of game time against England at the weekend.

The contest had been 'up there' among his most demanding games, saying playing at altitude in South Africa was comparable.

He is expecting plenty of movement from Ireland.

"They like to throw the ball around, but when they want to go direct they're quite strong. We have got to make sure we front up and be on for this week."

Throwing to the lineouts has been part of his assessment from England, and he said while the lineout issues were for various reasons, including clarity issues, it was a case of executing in the moment and trying to move on fast.

The fact that he is likely to start in Codie Taylor's injury-enforced absence would not affect how he prepares.

"It's the same whether I'm starting or on the bench. You never take it easy and I make sure my preparation is on point."

He finds that easier on tour without pressure from children and family time.

"Here, I've got no excuse not to get that preparation done."

He also spent time with his roommate, walking through lineouts and scrums and quizzing each other on their homework for the games. They were also able to get some downtime to ensure they could refresh their minds.

With six Tests on his resume against Ireland, prop Ofa Tu'ungafasi said they have been one of the more challenging teams to play since becoming more of a powerhouse.

"In the last few times we've played them, it's always been a tough battle up front.

"We're looking forward to Saturday."

Tu'ungafasi said that coming off the bench, along with Pasilio Tosi, and having an immediate impact in the scrums was pleasing, but he credited the work of the five players behind them.

"They worked really hard as well during those scrums and we're stoked we got the job done towards the end of the game."

Meanwhile, a familiar face may be missing from Ireland's front row as it is reported Tadhg Furlong has suffered a training injury and won't be available to play. Finlay Bealham is expected to take his place.
