Jackson told the Fiji Sun that entering a Drua team in the Coral Coast Sevens tournament in Sigatoka was part of boosting his side's fitness ahead of the 15s tournament.
The Drua team made the semifinals of the Coral Coast event by beating the local champion Lavidi Brothers 8-5 in their quarterfinal. But they came up against the Fiji men's Sevens side in the semifinals, and while giving them a good contest, the national sevens side ran away in the end to a 28-5 win.
Jackson said after, "It was a good performance by the boys. Most of the players have been working hard on their fitness and it's good they are improving day in and day out.
"It was a tough tournament, but I am pleased with the boys and how they played. We can't wait to see what the season holds for us."
The team was formed to give the players some game time, and to test them in the shorter game.
The Drua are now concentrating on their warmup game against the Rugby Football Club of Los Angeles in Lautoka on Friday, the first game between a Major League Rugby side from the USA and a Super Rugby Pacific team.
Former Australia, Brumbies and Moana Pasifika five-eighths Christian Leali'ifano is in the Los Angeles side which is coached by Stephen Hoiles and David Dennis.
One player who benefited from the Sevens exercise was hooker Mesulame Dolokoto.
"Coming back from injury, it was a good refresher and a challenge to lead the boys in the tournament."
He wants a place in the Drua Super Rugby Pacific team this year.
"It is going to be hard but I will be up for the challenge."
