Comments from the New Zealand camps were:
Highlanders 10 Crusaders 43
Crusaders coach Rob Penney
"I was pleased with Rivez [Reihana] 's performance. He's been out for a while after a horrific injury at the start of the campaign. For him to come in and slot in so seamlessly was a credit to him and the work that's been done behind the scenes.
"I can't elaborate on [first five-eighths] Taha [Kemara's] injury too much, just that it's not great.
"We've had a tremendous eight weeks since the last bye and we've had three derby games in a row so it feels as though the bye has come at a tremendous time for us to freshen up."
Crusaders captain David Havili
"Our coaches are driving it well, and our boys are buying in, and it was awesome to see [tonight's] performance around our defence. It shows how much we're connected with the jersey. It's a special weekend with Anzac Day. We drew a lot from that.
"[Will Jordan was massive. He's real class in everything he does and he drives the team, leads it well."
Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph
"I didn't think their score reflected our performance. I was disappointed for the players because they created a lot of opportunities to score in the first half, and we didn't take those opportunities. They were held up over the line a couple of times. There were times when the line was open with nobody in front of it, and we passed.
"Those kinds of opportunities against quality teams like the Crusaders have got to be taken.
"There were parts of the game they did really well. One was in the air with Will Jordan catching all the high balls and creating momentum for them. He was the difference in them, putting 20-odd points on in about 10 minutes.
"The Crusaders also defended well, and part of that was that we didn't execute our game around the ball carry – we got stripped or held up.
"With the courage to do those carries, we've also got to have the courage to use skills.
"At this stage of this team's life, that is where the difference is – their ability to execute tough skills under good pressure from us, but they just got it to the edge."
Chiefs 56 Force 22
Chiefs coach Clayton McMillan
"I'm a proud and passionate Bay of Plenty man, and this is my fifth year [as coach], and it's taken us five years to get a game over here. I couldn't help but feel a bit of pride sitting in the coach's box, looking over the crowd as the national anthems went on.
"And the boys put on a good display of rugby.
"He's [Wallace Sititi] an exceptional player with a unique skill set. He got out there about six or seven minutes after we had planned to get him out there, but there was a fair bit of collateral damage, and we needed to make sure we managed our bench well to deal with any further injuries.
"But he go on there and had a couple of nice touches that reminded everyone of his quality."
On the games ahead against the Hurricanes and Crusaders
"We'll turn our attention to that on Monday. It was a big day today, playing in the Bay, getting a good result against a quality Force side, and Samisoni's [Taukei'aho] 100th game.
"All his family are next door and it's important we celebrate those milestones. They don't come around easily and he's only the 12th centurion in Chiefs rugby history."
Chiefs captain Luke Jacobson
"It was a cool experience for us to get around a different set of fans [in Tauranga]. The fans turned out for us this week. Coming out here and playing on Bay Oval was a different set-up, but we enjoyed it.
"A lot of our game [in the first half] was where we wanted it. There were a couple of disappointing moments when we were caught off guard, off the kickoff, and another of the tries was off the back of two poor lineouts. Apart from that, we were in a good spot.
"We just needed to keep going out believing in what we were doing."
Reds 35 Blues 21
Blues coach Vern Cotter
"It is the inconsistency in our performances – last week, we thought we'd put in a reasonable performance, and then we turned around and put one in like we did tonight. When we focused and did things well with attention and energy, we were good. And then we messed things up.
"We muddled things up around our set-piece, didn't dominate that and couldn't catch high ball. There were a couple of possessions when there would have been try-scoring opportunities if we'd kept them.
"We could twist this any way you want, but we need to have a good hard look at ourselves, the standards we set, and what we think is acceptable from each other. We know we're not playing at our best, and we're a better team than that.
The big difference between this year and last is we started slowly, and we're easily satisfied. We don't have the same hunger.
"We're not going to hide behind injuries or bits and pieces like that. We need to be better.
"I don't mind going down, but going down when we don't give the best of ourselves is always difficult to accept. There are four games left and we need to win each one and you need to look at bonus points. We're going to have to start putting some intent and a bit of collective drive."
Blues captain Patrick Tuipulotu
"We didn't play well today and the Reds got a roll on where we said we wouldn't let them. There's a lot of inconsistency right now and that is frustrating."
Moana 34 Drua 15
Moana Pasifika coach Tana Umaga
"I'm very happy with the victory, but we were made to work hard for it. We got into an arm wrestle during that first half hour, but our defence held up. It's something we've grown in the last few weeks, and we have been able to keep them out.
"Everyone sees what we're both achieving and what we're trying to do as both clubs, we're trying to forge a way ahead for our people. Everyone talked about the battle of the Pacific, where our cultures are virtually the same.
"Our respect for who we are, our respect for our faith, which comes first and foremost for a lot of these players, and seeing all that coming together touches the heart and makes it all worth what we're doing.
"Rugby's a great vehicle for all of us because it means so much to all our people.
Moana Pasifika captain Ardie Savea
"The Drua were putting us under pressure a lot of the time, but getting out there and slowly starting to accumulate points is a positive for us. Our defence saved us a few times.
"I don't think the score reflects how the game was because we were made to make a lot of tackles, and when the Drua play, they're dangerous.
"What an amazing occasion for the Pacific to have, all our cultures together tonight. It's what rugby's about.
"We'll go week by week. We treat it like knockout footy, we've got to win every game."
Brumbies 29 Hurricanes 35
Hurricanes coach Clark Laidlaw
"It's a big win. We've not won here since 2017, so it's a tough place to come and win, as all the teams know. We had a really good week together at the start in Perth, travelled over in midweek, and trained well. Getting a win on the road and picking up some points is satisfying.
"We knew it was going to be tough, so it was probably the year's best performance.
"We've been searching for a few things in our game, different parts at different times. Some weeks, we've defended well; some weeks, we've had some good attacks, or our set-piece has been good. And we can still play a whole heap better.
"We've worked hard to try and produce some fast ball and getting on the front foot, and when you get guys like Kini [Naholo] and Ngane [Punivai] and Billy [Proctor] on the front foot, then we're a dangerous team.
"He [Proctor] doesn't like hearing it when he's sitting here, but we've missed him, and with Ruben [Love] back now we had lost basically a full back division from the semifinal last year."
"We've got the Chiefs to finish this block between the two byes next week. We know how tough a challenge that's going to be. The Chiefs are flying, and they're the best team in the competition by some distance some nights when they get it right.
Hurricanes co-captain Billy Proctor
"It's nice to get compliments, but I'm just happy to be back and trying to play my game.
"The win gives us a lot of confidence. We've been close a lot this season, and it's nice to be on the other side of it.
"It's nice to have been away for two weeks together and create a bond by spending more time together. It will give us a lot of confidence."
