The Chiefs will be without captain Luke Jacobson for the game. Lock Tupou Vaa'i will take on the leadership role, and flanker Jahrome Brown will start against his old side.

Making his return to the side after returning from injury will be All Blacks hooker Samisoni Taukei'aho.

Jacomb is looking forward to playing the Australian side.

"They're a team with a lot of talent and Wallabies. They are physical and good around the breakdown and also have a decent kicking game.

"We know what's coming and the threats they have to offer, but if we can nail our detail and get our stuff right, we'll be in more than a good position to put up a good fight.

Jacomb said it was impressive to play at home at FMG Stadium for the first time against the Crusaders at the weekend. He could feel the energy from the crowd, especially in the second half. If they can get a similar crowd behind them this week, it will be a big help.

Being a newcomer to Super Rugby Pacific, he has enjoyed every opportunity.

"I feel like I'm growing in the role with more experience and more time out on the field."

Jacomb's running ability has been understood since his appearances for Taranaki in the NPC, but it was heightened by his effort on the break, resulting in Quinn Tupaea scoring his first try.

"I saw a bit of space and decided to have a go in that split moment. It was awesome to see QT [Tupaea] get over a couple of times in his 50th [game]."
