BIOGRAPHY
OFA TU'UNGAFASI has gone from strength to strength since making his All Blacks debut in 2016.
A defensive rock and big man, the softly-spoken Tu'ungafasi made his All Blacks debut in 2016 after establishing himself as one of the Blues’ standout players.
He scored his first Test try against South Africa in 2017.
Tu'ungafasi became an internet sensation during the Covid-19 locked down when he was filmed using his car as a scrum machine in his backyard. The hard work paid off too, with Tuungafasi being selected in the All Blacks 2020 squad.
As a younger player, Tu'ungafasi represented New Zealand at age-grade level and made the New Zealand Schools team for two seasons, playing alongside All Blacks teammate TJ Perenara.
Tu'ungafasi studies social work outside of rugby, with a particular focus on young people.
Rugby runs in his family - his father Mofuike played for Tonga at the 1987 RWC and his younger brother Isi joined Ofa in the Auckland squad in 2015.
