It was a matter of when not if Jorja Miller graduated to the Black Ferns Sevens team, the Christchurch teen has proven ability beyond her years as she progressed through school.
Miller was a standout for Christchurch Girls High School at several editions of Condor Sevens, played for the Canterbury FPC team and was the MVP at Ignite7 in 2020.
She made her Black Ferns Sevens debut at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in 2022, at went on to win World Rugby’s Rookie of the year in her first season.
In her second season she was nominated for World Rugby’s Player of the Year and won the prestigious Kelvin R Tremain Memorial Player of the Year for New Zealand’s leading rugby player, the youngest winner since Jonah Lomu.
Miller became the youngest New Zealand female gold medallist ever when winning gold in Paris.
