Charlene Gubb

Auckland Storm stalwart Charlene Gubb (formerly Halapua) was called into the Black Ferns for the first time in 2015 after a series of impressive performances at the Women’s Provincial Championship level, including three national titles and featured at blindside flank in all three Tests as the Black Ferns dominated the International Super Series.

Attracted to sevens by New Zealand Rugby’s Go 4 Gold programme in 2012, Halapua made her New Zealand Women’s Sevens debut that same year at the Oceania Women’s Sevens Championship. The Tongan-born Halapua moved to New Zealand when she was 11.
