The defending champions to contend with local rivals in the semi-finals, with HBHS's Shanan Tomuri scoring the winning touchdown against Rotorua Boys' High School on the final hooter to take the 6 - 5 win.
The final saw the Hamilton boys complete their stranglehold on the competition, with HBHS beating Hastings Boys' High School 6 - 1 in a dominant performance.
HBHS players Mikaere Beattie, Isaac Te Tamaki, Legin Hotham, and Shanan Tomuri were named in the Tournament Team, and Legin Hotham was named Player of the Tournament.
This is the 6th National Title for the team with five of these wins coming in the last six years.
Coach Nigel Hotham told the Waikato Times he was pleased with how his team took control.
"When the rain came down (in the final) I thought it would be a really tight game, but we dominated right from the start," he said.
"Our yardage game was pretty huge and they had no answers. We let them get down our end only once, really, and we kept the pressure on them for the whole game."
"We've won six national titles now, so we want to win seven next year, which would give us the most wins in tournament history."
