Released back for ITM Cup duty after an enforced stand down period at the end of a taxing Super Rugby campaign, Latimer will add considerable experience to a forward pack filled with players who stood out during the Bayfair Baywide club rugby competition.
Half the pack stems from the champion Tauranga Sports side, with Te Puke Sport’s Nathan Harris and Tim Bond joining Mount Maunganui flanker Johan Bardoul alongside Rangiuru product Latimer.
Three changes have been made to the back division that started against Auckland in round three, with Josh Hall coming in for injured halfback Samisoni Fisilau, Steve Honey replacing Dave Thomas at fullback and Kenny Lynn coming in for Brett Mather at centre, after the Tauranga Sports player suffered a broken jaw against Auckland.
The side has won just one of their three fixtures in the opening round, so will be looking to pick up some valuable points against the unbeaten competition favourites.
