Weepu was still very sore yesterday morning and Blues doctor Stephen Kara believed it was highly unlikely his injury would settle prior to the game against the Cheetahs this weekend so a decision had to be made.

Wayne Ngaluafe, who debuted for the Blues against France, will fly out early tomorrow morning as a replacement.

Noakes suffered a thigh strain and will return to New Zealand, with utility back Marty McKenzie flying out to Bloemfontein as a replacement.

Noakes is expected to recover in time to face the Chiefs in the Blues’ final game of the regular season at Eden Park on July 13.

Number eight Peter Saili has a haematoma and hooker Keven Mealamu has some tightness in his calf, but both players are expected to be fit to play the Cheetahs this weekend.
