The afternoon fixture is a prime opportunity for the public to view two of the most exciting and talented Investec Super Rugby teams live in action.
On Thursday 31 January at 4pm, the Chiefs team will run a Coaching Clinic for eight– thirteen year old local players that have been invited to attend the session by King Country Rugby Union. The clinic will be held at the Tongariro Domain in Tongariro Street, Taupo. The public are encouraged to watch and take part in an autograph signing session afterwards.
The Taupo District Council, King Country Rugby Union and Suncourt Hotel have provided great support behind the scenes to continue to bring Investec Super Rugby to Taupo.
King Country CEO David Trewavas said ‘We are rapt to have the Chiefs back after a very successful camp last year. We reckon it was the camp in Taupo that kicked off a successful season”.
The Chiefs will be making the most of their time in Taupo, enjoying the tourist attractions including Prawn Park, Huka Jets, the White Water Rafting Simulator and The Great Lake Hole in One.
Chiefs coach Dave Rennie is expected to use the teams first hit-out for the season as a trial match. Players will be working hard to secure a starting position for the Investec Super Rugby’s first match against the Highlanders in Dunedin on 22 February.
Families are encouraged to bring picnics into the park but no alcohol or commercially branded take-away food is allowed be taken into the ground. Food and beverages will be available on site.
