Welsh captain Sam Warburton has come out swinging ahead of the All Blacks visit to Cardiff, saying that he hopes the team will survive this test of character, with the skipper saying that with the right belief the Six Nations champions can end their losing drought.

It has been five straight losses for the team crowned Kings of the North at the beginning of the year, with a 0-3 series defeat against the Wallabies followed up by back-to-back home defeats against Argentina and Samoa.

Warburton said the mood and general feeling in the camp was something that few of the playing group had ever been a part of – with the peaks of a World Cup third placed playoff and a Grand Slam seeming like a distant memory.

“It's been five Tests on the bounce now we have lost,” last weekend’s benched captain said.

“I haven't experienced that before.”

“It is unusual, and it will be a test now for the boys to see who the tough ones are. We will front-up at training on Monday determined to get it right. I am sure everybody will have the same mindset and we will all be on the same page.”

He said that winning made everything easier, and that this slump was merely a test which Wales need to emerge from.

“It's easy when you win,” he said.

“This is a test for a lot of the players and a lot of the leaders of the squad to make sure we put things right. We are all in this together. I think the players are letting ourselves down. It is something we will all analyse together, and it's the same when you are doing well and winning games.”
