ROB THOMPSON MADE his debut for the Maori All Blacks in 2017 after an exciting season with the Highlanders, in which he played 11 times and scored five tries.
Thompson joined the Highlanders in 2016 after an explosive 2015 provincial campaign for Canterbury where he stood out as one of the form backs throughout the competition. He had earlier made his Super Rugby debut with the Crusaders, in 2014. He is a powerful runner, who has the strength to play in the midfield and the speed to play in the outside backs.
Originally from the Manawatu, Thompson was lured back home for the 2018 Mitre 10 Cup season, and has been a key member of the side, setting up numerous tries and ranking in the top five players in the competition for offloads, while also getting across the chalk himself.
