Chris Eves

Chris Eves is a member of the Tainui iwi and one of a number of Maori All Blacks who joined the squad for the first time in 2013 after an impressive domestic season. He came off the bench in both matches on the North American Tour and was selected again in 2014 for the tour of Japan.

The versatile prop is difficult to stop when he’s heading for the tryline, with considerable power and strength. Originally from North Harbour, Eves made his provincial debut in 2008, before playing two seasons in Portugal. He moved back to New Zealand and was part of the Wellington Academy, before joining Manawatu as a loan player in 2013, where he became a vital part of the Turbos’ set up for that year.

He was named in the Hurricanes’ Wider Training Group in 2014, but was called up to the full squad as injury cover early in the campaign, playing in a number of key matches in his first Investec Super Rugby season. He has gone from strength to strength in 2015, earning his first start after 21 appearances from the bench.

His strong form continued for the Hurricanes in 2017 and he was rewarded with a place in the Maori All Blacks squad to face the British & Irish Lions.
