IMPRESSIVE loose forward Mitchell Karpik plays with an intelligence and skill that belies his 23 years, standing out at both provincial and Super level.
Ahead of the 2016 Investec Super Rugby season, Karpik signed with the Chiefs, before suffering an injury that prevented him from taking the field that season. He finally made his debut in 2017 and went on to play seven matches, including the clash with the British & Irish Lions. He added six more appearances for the side in 2018.
Karpik plays for provincial side Bay of Plenty in the Mitre 10 Cup and has made a big impact so far in 2018, with his high work rate showing through in ball carries and he is fourth-equal on the top 10 player rankings for tackles made at the time of writing.
His abilities were noticed early, as evidenced by a representative career that includes the New Zealand Schools and New Zealand Schools Barbarians while at King’s College and the New Zealand side which won the 2015 World Rugby Under 20 Championship in Italy.
