Ben May

Ben May is a versatile prop of Ngati Maniapoto descent, who was first selected for the Maori All Blacks in the 2007 Churchill Cup and helping them to victory in the following year’s Pacific Nations Cup. He re-joined the team for the European tour of 2012.

He played his first full season of provincial rugby with Nelson Bays in 2004 when he helped them win the old Second Division NPC. He then became a foundation member of the Tasman Makos ITM Cup side in 2006, before switching to Waikato for the 2009 season.

May made his Investec Super Rugby debut for the Crusaders in 2007 and played for the Chiefs between 2008 and 2011, joining the Hurricanes for 2012 and 2013. A two-year stint playing for the Sanix club in Japan followed and he returned to the Hurricanes in 2015. May formed a crucial part of the Hurricanes pack during the impressive campaigns in 2015,16 and 17. He was rewarded for his strong form in 2017 with a place in the Maori All Blacks squad to take on the British & Irish Lions.
