Piri Weepu

Piri Weepu, a member of the Te Whakatohea and Ngai Tahu iwi, rejoined the Maori All Blacks in 2013 after last playing for the side in 2008. His seven previous games for the team make him one of the most experienced members of the 2013 side.

The tenacious halfback – who also provides a first five-eighth option for teams – played for New Zealand Under 21 in 2004, the same year he earned a call-up for the All Blacks. Weepu played 71 Tests for the All Blacks between 2004 and 2012 and was a key figure in that team’s Rugby World Cup 2011 success.

Weepu has played for both the Hurricanes and the Blues and became a Super Rugby centurion in 2013.
