Jeffery Toomaga-Allen

Top tighthead prop Jeff Toomaga-Allen has long been a formidable force in the front row, where his high-intensity scrummaging has proved troublesome for his opponents.

Toomaga-Allen, who was raised in Porirua north of Wellington, returned to the All Blacks in 2017 four years after making his Test debut against Japan. His selection  is great reward for hard work and tenacity, attributes first shown when he was selected for the New Zealand Schools team in 2008 and Under 20s in 2010.

He made his Super Rugby debut for the Hurricanes in 2012, before making his provincial debut for Wellington later that year, the first Hurricanes player to do so. That year he was named Wellington’s top player for 2012.

He made a storming start to the 2013 Super season, before a knee injury cruelly ended his season – just days after he was named in the All Blacks’ training squad.

Toomaga-Allen has remained a steadfast presence in the Hurricanes ever since and was part of the Super Rugby champion team of 2016.
