Portia Woodman

Portia Woodman called time on a top-level netball career with the Northern Mystics in order to join the New Zealand Women’s Sevens programme and she has been a stand-out with the oval ball.  Now a Women’s World Cup Sevens champion, Woodman earned her first call-up to the Black Ferns after her stop-start speed, and leave-‘em-for-dust side-step made her an obvious selection for the Black Ferns wing.  The world’s top points and try scorer in Women’s Sevens, Woodman is expected to be devastating on attack and defence for the Black Ferns.

She comes from strong rugby stock - both her father and uncle were All Blacks in 1980s.
