Ben Afeaki

A formidable force in the North Harbour and Investec Super Rugby-winning Chiefs front rows, Ben Afeaki made his first class rugby debut at 19 years of age. Afeaki, who is of Ngati Awa descent, was part of World Championship-winning Under 19 and Under 20 squads and made his All Blacks debut against France in 2013.

Afeaki was part of the Maori All Blacks side that commemorated the team’s centenary in 2010, playing in all three games against New Zealand Barbarians, Ireland and England. He was then one of the standouts on the team’s European Tour in 2012, again playing in all three matches.

Well-regarded for his speed and power, Afeaki has already been looked to for leadership and has captained his province in the ITM Cup Championship. He has also represented New Zealand in water polo.
