Career notes New Zealand Sevens (2007, 2008) Crusaders (2006) Canterbury Air New Zealand Cup (2004 - 2007) Canterbury Sevens (2004, 2005) Canterbury B (2003) Steven Yates comes off a solid 2006 season with Canterbury in the Air New Zealand Cup, playing in six games, including the quarter-final against Wellington. He is a member of the Crusaders’ wider training squad after making his Rebel Sport Super 14 debut for the franchise in Brisbane in 2006. The Canterbury wing, who originates from Karamea at the top of the South Island's West Coast, can also play at centre. Yates is a building apprentice and plays for the Burnside club in Christchurch. He has represented Buller and Canterbury age-group teams and played Sevens for Canterbury.
