Anton Oliver

Oliver first played for the All Blacks in 1996 under coach Laurie Mains and created the first father and son captain combination when he was appointed All Blacks skipper in 2001 - father Frank Oliver captained the All Blacks in 1978. Oliver brings strength, leadership and experience to the All Blacks front row: following the retirement of Tana Umaga from the Test arena, the former captain now stands as the elder statesman of the All Blacks squad. As tough as rock cut from the Southern Alps, he returned to international action on the All Blacks 2005 end-of-year tour after a leg injury suffered late in the 2005 Rebel Sport Super 12 season kept him from participating in the DHL NZ Lions Series. During the 2007 Super 14, he brought his Super 14 caps total to 127, most among all New Zealand players, and his first-class caps total to an impressive 290.
