Savage re-joined the Black Ferns in 2016 after a big season for Farah Palmer Cup Champions Counties Manukau, having missed the 2015 International Super Series. She played the first four Tests at number 8 and has been retained in the squad for her third Women's Rugby World Cup.
Savage has exceptional ball skills that she has also displayed in international rugby league and made her representative rugby debut for Auckland in 2008. She joined the Black Ferns in England for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2010 and played all nine Tests in 2014, including the World Cup in France.
