Fiao’o Fa’amausili

Regarded as one of the world’s leading hookers and most successful Captains, Fiao’o Faamausili has been an integral part of the Auckland side that has dominated the Women’s Provincial Championship for a long time, with over 90 appearances for the Storm.

A seasoned physical force in the forward pack, police detective Fa’amausili is one of the Black Ferns’ most experienced and reliable players, third on the team’s all-time appearances list with 47 caps, behind Anna Richards and Emma Jensen (both on 49 Tests). She has captained the Black Ferns since 2012 and led the side again at the 2014 Women’s Rugby World Cup - her fourth World Cup campaign.

She captained the team again during the 2017 International Women’s Rugby Series.
Fa’amausili has chalked up many awards including NZ women’s rugby player of the year, Auckland Storm Player of the year, Samoan sports women of the year and NZ Police Sportsperson of the year. She was also named one of the New Zealand Rugby Almanack’s Player of the Year in 2016.
