Aotearoa Mata'u

The youngest member of the 2016 Black Ferns squad, Aotearoa Mata’u has plenty of experience. She made her first class debut in 2013 for Counties Manukau while a student at Papakura High School as the Heat returned to top-level rugby and has made a big contribution to the team since.

Throughout a huge season with the 2016 Farah Palmer Cup champions, Mata’u attracted the eye of the selectors with her impressive scrummaging – and then showed her attacking skills with a try against the Wellington Pride in the semifinal. She made a big debut against the Wallaroos in October 2016.
