One of the leading Sevens players in the world, Hirini has several accolades to her name including Olympic Silver Medallist in 2016, Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist in 2018, four-time World Rugby Sevens Series winner – and can now add Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.

New Zealand Rugby Chief Executive Steve Tew said: “Hirini’s tireless work-ethic and commitment to the game is unrivalled, and she has been a leading figure in women’s rugby in New Zealand.

“Hirini has, and continues to, enjoy an incredibly successful career and this recognition is well-deserved,” said Tew.

The most-capped female player in Sevens Series history, Hirini is set to take the field in her 200th match in France next weekend, as she optimistically leads the team to take out another HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series crown.
