The Black Ferns will play 1991 champions USA while reigning champions England will meet France in Belfast.

With three bonus-point wins, the Black Ferns qualified top with 15 points and a points differential of plus 196. England also amassed 15 points but couldn’t match the Black Ferns points differential to finish as the second-placed qualifier. France were unbeaten in Pool C on 14 points to take out the third spot while USA qualified as the best-placed runner up from the three pools with 11 points in Pool B.

WRWC 2014 finalists Canada missed out on the last four, after their 48-5 loss to Black Ferns saw rivals USA clinch the fourth spot.

Playing in her New Zealand record 50th Test match, captain Fiao’o Faamausili said the strong team culture was a key factor in their pool play success.
“There’s a lot of love in our camp. We are all missing our family back home but we are gelling in camp and becoming a massive family.

Looking ahead to the semifinals, coach Glenn Moore said the focus now switches to preparation.

“The most important thing now is how we go about our recovery to ensure that in four or five days we are in the best condition possible for the semifinal.”

The Black Ferns take on USA at 4am (NZT) on Wednesday 23 August with LIVE coverage on SKY Sport and delayed coverage on Prime TV from 5.30am.

England and France will clash in the second semifinal at 6.45am (NZT) immediately following the Black Ferns-USA match.
