"We didn't do it easy and went into golden time against Waikato in our quarter-final but to bounce back against Counties in our semi and to come out on top against Wellington in the final is a bittersweet feeling," she said.

She said that while making the women's team to Rio de Janiero was never completely out of the picture and the symptoms of illness and a couple of disc bulges had taken a long time to clear.

"It was just about managing it and taking my time about getting back and it's been six months, a long six months but I'm back now, I'm loving it and I'm just going to take every opportunity that comes my way," she said.

When her injury was diagnosed she said there was a chance she could get back for the National Championships.

"So to be able to put on the green and white jersey again is a really great feeling and just to be out there with those girls having so much fun, there is nothing better," he said.
