This will end his period of extended leave, with the 32-year-old's last game being in Twickenham last November for the All Blacks.

It was the number ten's 100th Test.

The Southbridge Rugby Football Club made it official with news this week, while earlier Carter attended a small function where the all-time world Test point's scorer was given his uniform for the game.

Playing for the Division 1 side against Glenmark, it will likely lead to Carter linking back up with the Crusaders when the Investec Super Rugby season resumes.

Carter last played for Southbridge playing Hornby in 2009, a match where several thousand looked on.

A similar crowd is expected this weekend.
