The win pushed them out of the top of the points table deadlock with Australia who were chasing their first IRB Women’s Sevens World Series win.

Their win comes hot on the heels of the All Blacks Sevens men’s World Series title last weekend. In Amsterdam to watch the women clinch the Final and Series, New Zealand Rugby Chief Executive Steve Tew welcomed today’s win as a great double achievement for Sevens rugby in New Zealand.

“Congratulations to (captain) Huriana Manuel and the team, to (Coach) Sean Horan and their management team – this Series win is the result of very hard work, determination and clear planning over the past year.

“Last year they brought home the Sevens World Cup, and now they will return home as back to back winners of the World Series which is a remarkable achievement for any team in any sport.

“The Women’s World Sevens circuit has been very competitive, and the fact that the winner was not known until the last game of the last tournament demonstrates how close the competition is internationally.

“The New Zealand Women’s Sevens team are outstanding ambassadors of the game and the black jersey both on and off the field and we acknowledge and celebrate their success today."
