With an increase in player numbers across all eight teams in the weekend, (particularly in the U19s section), the final two rounds of the competition will definitely bring forth some exciting rugby.

The U19 Auckland Samoa side played the newly-formed Counties Manukau Cook Island U19s team.

Kiwi Sanaauga had an impressive game for the Cook Islanders with her strong ball carrying and tackling. In the other U19s clash, Auckland Tonga’s mid-fielder, Olivia Poloniati showcased some powerful running with four tries against the Northern Region Maori side.

After two rounds, Auckland Tonga remain top of the table for the U19s competition.

With a couple of weeks of action under the team's belts, the game time and trainings for the different teams has seen a clear improvement in the standard of play and individual focus from the players.

Although the results favoured Auckland Samoa and Northern Region Maori in the women’s section, the determination and perseverance shown by the opposition was something the Cook Islanders and Tongans can be proud of.

With plenty of tries being scored throughout, Auckland Samoan players Mele Leuluaialii and Justine Manaia Luatua collected a hat-trick each and Northern Region Maori captain Renee Wickliffe and flanker, Shontelle Dudley both having scored two tries a piece.

The Northern Region Maori take lead position heading into the third round of competition.
