Ponsonby win Waka Nathan Challenge Cup

Auckland Rugby     22 Mar 2014     Auckland Rugby

Auckland's oldest rugby club booked themselves a place in decider after their meeting with Grammar-Tec in the semi-final last Saturday and after a gutsy performance in trying conditions they outsmarted their opponent’s by 32-17.

Going into the semi-final Ponsonby had played some scintillating rugby, annihilating Maungarua 93-0 in the first round, then despatching the Gallaher Shield champions Pakuranga by 32-23 in the second round.

The club, who celebrate their 140 year anniversary this year, have won the Gallaher Shield in ten of the last thirteen seasons.
