Gordon Tietjens, NZ coach, on three from three: "Seven out of 10 for our performance today, we are looking for that perfect 10 but you won't get it in such a competitive Series now. Doesn't look good for DJ Forbes or Sam Dickson, but we will see how they come through. You never know, we have a pretty good physic. It is tough conditions and some people have struggled, but tomorrow is another day."
Stephen Gemmell, Scotland coach, unbeaten on day one: "We were disappointed in Hong Kong and we know we have a huge fight at the bottom and we you just saw how much it means to both teams there. But we go through unbeaten which is credit to the players and tomorrow is another day. Safety is in our hands, in it is in our destiny, we are 12th, and if we stay there we are safe."
Ben Ryan, England coach, on a disappointing day one: "We controlled the first opening two games and let them slip. You can't concentrate for 95% of the game and let the 5% slip. It is hard to explain, we haven't been good enough in some of these tournaments and if you are not in the money you are not going to win."
Mike Friday, Kenya coach, after victory v USA: "We are fighting for our lives here. We weren't good enough in game one. A few issues in the contact area but I wasn't happy with the effort and endeavor which I expect when you pull on the Kenyan shirt. But we saw that in that match. If we win against Wales I think we will have done enough, but that last try by USA could be important."
Jamie Henry on Japan's win and his debut try: "It was hectic, but the support we are getting at home is a real motivational factor. It was a good first win. We bounced back and we will benefit from it for the second game. I dedicate my try to my dad. I didn't make it to Hong Kong because he passed when the team was named, I chose to go home, but I am proud to put the Japanese shirt on and am looking forward to the next game."
