It was not the start Australia wanted to their Rugby Championship and Bledisloe Cup campaign, with the loss compounded by news of Pocock's injury, as scans on Sunday confirmed cartilage damage to his right knee.

Monday's consultation will reveal Pocock's prognosis.

In other Wallabies news, Ben McCalman - who was training with the Australian squad - underwent surgery on his forearm on Saturday night.

McCalman - the Western Force's No.8 - was on the recovery trail from a shoulder injury, and he is expected to miss another three months of action with his latest injury.
