Hi to all you fans out there. It’s been an amazing time having the Rugby World Cup here in New Zealand. I can’t believe all the hype around the tournament. It’s been great seeing Kiwis so inspired and embracing it so wholeheartedly; not to mention all of the visitors to our lovely country.
It must be tough for some of the fans that have had their teams knocked out in the earlier stages. I imagine you wouldn’t want it to end. But I have heard that heaps of people who still have tickets are adopting us as their second team. So welcome on board; it’s been a great ride so far. It’s humbling that you want to support us. Although, I imagine if we had been knocked out all of us Kiwis would pick another country to support in the final too.
France are going to be formidable opponents. You have got to expect the unexpected with them. On their day they are capable of something special and let’s be honest this is a big day. We are not taking them lightly; we are not underestimating them. France are a dangerous team.
This weekend, more than anything, I want us to bring home that little gold cup. Personally, I want to go out there and enjoy myself, do my job first and then try for something above and beyond the usual. I want to say I have sacrificed everything on the field for my country and my team. I will be playing for my brothers on the field and my wounded brothers who can’t take this battlefield with us. If we can win, hopefully it will lessen the pain for them.
